If you've lived in the South Sound for any length of time, you've probably heard of the Buckley Log Show. It's one of those events that's been going long enough to become part of the community furniture. Buckley closes down Main Street. Families drive in from across the foothills. Kids sit on curbs for the parade. And for two days every June, the Log Show Grounds at 344 N River Ave turn into something you'd be hard pressed to describe to someone who hasn't seen it.

This year, the show runs June 27–28, 2026. If you've been on the fence about going, this is the nudge.

What Actually Happens at the Log Show

The Buckley Log Show is a two-day logging competition. Real athletes, real tools, real timber. It's loud, it's physical, and it moves fast enough to keep the whole family locked in. Competitors come from across the region to test their skills against each other, and the whole thing builds toward one title: All-Around Logger, decided at the end of day two.

If you've never watched competitive logging up close, you're in for something. These events are a lot more athletic than the name implies.

🪓

Ax Throw

Precision throwing at a wooden target. Satisfying to watch even if you don't know the scoring — and surprisingly tense when it comes down to the final throws.

🌊

Log Rolling

Two competitors, one log, one river of focus. Log rolling looks simple until you're watching someone stay on for 60 seconds while their opponent is trying everything to send them off.

🌲

Tree Climbing

Competitors race to the top of a tall spar pole. The speed is genuinely shocking if you've never seen it.

⛓️

Choker Setting

A throwback to the real work of logging — attaching a cable to a log as fast as possible. It doesn't look as flashy as log rolling but the crowd gets into it.

🪚

Chain Saw Events

Speed, precision, sawdust. Chainsaw carving and cutting events round out the competition schedule throughout both days.

🏆

All-Around Logger

The whole weekend builds toward this. Points accumulate across events and one competitor walks away with bragging rights for the next year.

Beyond the competition, the grounds have food vendors, live entertainment, and a street fair along Main Street. Plan to spend most of the day if you can — there's more going on than the schedule makes obvious.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Go

The Log Show has been around long enough that the logistics are pretty dialed in, but a little prep goes a long way on a busy summer weekend in Buckley.

🚗

Parking Fills Fast

Designated parking fills quickly, especially on Saturday. Get there early or be ready to walk a bit. Carpooling from Bonney Lake is a solid move.

🐕

Dogs Welcome — With Caveats

Dogs are allowed in the family area but not in the beer garden. Keep your pup leashed and plan for a warm day with shade and water.

🌤️

Dress for Summer

June in the foothills can swing from morning cool to afternoon warm fast. Layer up and bring sunscreen. If you're bringing kids, hats and water bottles are a must.

🎪

Parade on Saturday

The parade goes down Main Street at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning before the Log Show starts. Grab your spot early if you want a good view from the curb.

From the Log Show's own page: the show is free to attend. No gate fee, no ticket required for the main competition area. The beer garden has its own entry requirements for those 21 and over. Bring cash for vendors — not everyone takes cards.

Come Find Us in the Vendor Area

Here's the part where we come in. Dootyful Scoopers will be at the Buckley Log Show this year as a vendor. We're a local, family-owned dog waste removal service out of Bonney Lake, and the Log Show is basically our home turf. Buckley is one of the communities we serve, and getting out to events like this is one of the parts of running a neighborhood business we genuinely look forward to.

We'll have a booth in the vendor area both days. Stop by and say hi — we'd love to meet the dogs (and the people behind them). We're also running an exclusive Log Show deal for anyone who signs up at the event or uses our promo code in the days following the show. Details are on our Log Show event page.

Attending the Log Show? Swing by our booth and use promo code DROPPINLOGS when you sign up for service. It's only available at the event and for a short window after. We'll post our exact booth location on Facebook before the weekend. Follow us there for updates.

If your yard has been doing its own kind of log show lately — you know, deposits piling up out back — we handle the cleanup on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule so it stops being your problem. No contracts, cancel anytime. Our pricing guide breaks down what service looks like for most yards in the area.

Why the Log Show Is Worth Your Weekend

Buckley doesn't have a ton of events that draw regional attention, but the Log Show has done it every summer for decades. There's something about watching skilled people do physically demanding work at speed that holds up regardless of how many times you've seen it. The parade, the vendors, the competition, the community — it's one of those summer days that ends up being a better memory than you expected going in.

If you're in Bonney Lake, Buckley, Lake Tapps, or anywhere in Pierce County, it's a short drive and a free admission. Hard to beat that on a summer weekend.

We'll see you out there. Come find the booth, say hi to the team, and let us take one chore permanently off your yard list. Dooty calls. We answer. 💩
